Most anglers who come to Homer take the full dayfishing trips where they leave in the AM and return in the afternoon. Traveling to the better fishing areas, fishing hovard and then eating and sleeping on the boat in order to be ready to fish again the next morningis definitely the plan here.
Once you decide on taking this unique trip, you will begin an unforgettable Alaskan experience! Get ready to leave the harbor by 7:00AM and travel down the coast of the Kenai Peninsula, the lower Cook Inlet and around the Gulf of Alaska. Along the way you might take in the sights of enormous whales breaching, adorable sea otters swimming by, puffins running on topof the water’s edge, as well as eyeing an occasional bear on
the beach or even a mountain goat grazing on the mountainside.
You will be taking in some truly breathtaking surroundings.
When the captain finds any one of his “secret spots” you will hear the engine decelerate and see the deckhand preparing the gear. It’s time to begin fishing. You will fish hard until the captain calls out for lunch, which is usually served when the fishing slows down. Beverages and snacks will always be available. After taking a break, its back to fishing you go! The excitement continues as you reel in those mighty Alaskan fish you have heretofore only read about.
By late afternoon, fully exhilarated, you will wind down and begin taking pictures of your catch to share with all your family and friends. The captain will motor over to a “harbor of safe refuge” where you will spend the night. While the deckhand is fileting and icing down your fish, the captain will soon begin to prepare your evening meal. It’s your turn to relax, take in the beauty all around you. After dinner, you will hunker down for a restful night’s sleep.
It’s so quiet in the lake-like surroundings that the captain will be stirring before you do. The morning smell of fresh coffee brewing will summon you. Time for an energizing breakfast and then off to a new spot for another chance at those big ones. You’ll have a pole in one hand and a coffee in the other before the charters out of Homer have even left the dock.
Throughout the day the captain will take you to some of his most secret, productive spots and another chance at fishing for multiple species for as long as time allows. Snacks, beverages and lunch are provided along the way. You will return to the Homer harbor around 5 PM to unload and watch the deckhand clean and filet the rest of your catch. Again, you will pose for more photos, with a smile on your face!
To sum it all up, the long-range, overnight, multi-species fishing trip is a great way to spend quality time fishing in beautiful Cook Inlet and beyond, looking for that perfect catch. You’ll relax in beautiful surroundings while eating your meals, and sleep comfortably in a peaceful cove. Available only on our 6 pack boats, the 35’ Tuff Stuff , and the 37' Kachemak King, these special charters will cater to 4 anglers only.
So on a 2 day trip, you will enjoy lunch and dinner one day and then breakfast and lunch the next day before getting back to the harbor. All bait, tackle and gear are provided. Due to bag limit restrictions, the 2 day overnight seems to suit most angler needs, however, longer trips can be arranged.
The cost of this unique trip is $2400 per day for 1-4 anglers; a 2day trip will run $4800. This price is plus 7.5% tax. The total cost would be divided between the number of anglers who sign up to go. In addition, you will need a fishing license which we have at our office. A 1 day license is $25 and a 3 day is $45, plus if the kings are in, a king stamp is $15 for one day and $30 for a three day. Since you’ll be out 2 days, you’ll need the 3 day licenses. Comfortable bedding is provided. Don’t forget that Homer Halibut Jackpot derby ticket for $10 per day because hey, you never know!
We hope you will consider doing something unique and different while in Homer. Please plan ahead so we can prepare and save those consecutive days for you. It’s nice when one party goes out together but if you would like to be combined with others, let us know so we can look for anglers in the same boat- hoping to join in!
